PROGRAM NOTES:
The basis for the work “Goodness and Severity” is a verse from God’s Word – Romans 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. With this piece I wanted to portray the biblical balance of Gods character. It is often easy to focus in on the goodness of God and neglect His severity. He is our Father and our King, our redeemer and our judge, our mediator and our righteousness. He is love and He is a consuming fire, He gives and He takes away, He blesses and He curses. He chastens those He loves and punishes the wicked. He has mercy on who He has mercy. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
STATEMENT OF FAITH:
I am a Christian. I believe in and have a personal relationship with the living God of the Bible (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit). He is the eternal creator of all things – the alpha and the omega. My lord and saviour is Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, who humbled himself from His heavenly throne and was born into this world of a virgin around 2000 years ago in Bethlehem. He lived the perfect sinless life revealing God’s heart, wisdom, and power, yet was beaten, tortured, and crucified at the hands of men for my iniquities and transgressions. He willingly paid the punishment (death) for my sin and the sin of the world on the cross such that we can be reconciled with our righteous and holy heavenly Father. Death had no hold on the sinless creator of all things and He rose from the dead and appeared unto many before ascending into heaven where He is seated at the right hand of God the Father. Jesus Christ is the author and perfecter of my faith. My hope is in Him. I am an adopted child of God through Jesus Christ and desire to follow him all my days until He returns or raises me from the dead. I will see Him face to face and live with Him for eternity in the creative marvel that will be the new heavens and new earth. Hallelujah!
BIO:
Born and raised into a musical family in BC, Canada music has been part of my life from an early age. Everyone in my family (4 siblings) plays an instrument or two. I was put into piano lessons at the age of 5 and completed my piano ARCT degree with the Royal Conservatory of Music when I was in Grade 11. Through high school I was part of the school band and jazz band where I played drums. I have also played drums for multiple churches throughout the years and still play for my current home church every few weeks. I have been composing from an early age but only recently have purchased the equipment to record them. It has become a major hobby of mine and soaks up a large chunk of my free time.
To Sum up my life: Jesus is my Lord, to please Him is my purpose, Civil Engineering is my profession, Music is my ministry/hobby, My wife is the love of my life.
